Frequently Asked Questions

Who can submit a proposal?

While anyone can submit an idea, we actively seek proposals from clean economy thought leaders and subject-matter experts.

What makes a strong proposal?

The strongest proposals have strong equity components, are highly actionable, and offer a highly specific recommendation.

What is the process when I submit an idea?

All submissions undergo two stages of review. The first stage of review is for clarity, specificity, and completeness. The second stage of review involves Advisory Board members and expert reviewers considering each proposal for political feasibility and equity and environmental justice. After each stage of review, we get back to authors with feedback and proposed revisions (when necessary).

Once an idea completes our review process, we add it to The CLEEN Project database, which we use as the vehicle to share proposals with federal staff.

How long does it take to get a proposal up on the Database after it is submitted?

Depending upon the scale of revision necessary and authors’ ability to get back edits, it takes 3-4 weeks to get an idea fully reviewed, revised accordingly, and up on the Database.

How does The CLEEN Project grant attribution to authors?

Unless requested otherwise, contributors' names will always remain attached to the proposal and will be featured on the Database.

How do my ideas get to the Biden-Harris administration?

The CLEEN Project is a co-op of clean economy leaders, consisting of more than 80 Advisory Board members and 250+ contributors. This network includes many ex-Obama senior officials, as well as many newly-appointed Biden administration officials. Via the contexts of existing relationships, the Database has been and will continue to be shared with the Biden-Harris administration and Congress.

To date, CLEEN Project representatives have shared ideas with federal leaders in the White House, Department of Energy, Congress, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and more.

As The CLEEN Project Database and network grows, the Database will become the go-to repository for highly actionable clean economy job creation ideas.

How many proposals have you received so far?

We have received approximately 350 proposals, as of May 7.

Our Advisory Board members vote on the strongest proposals in the category. Votes are based upon feasibility, impact, and equity/environmental justice components.
